How to maintain a healthy balance between study and playtime

Kids today have a lot on their plate. School work, home work, extra activities, classes, social gatherings. It is rather necessary that they are taught time management to be able to participate in all that, and do more. Between all this, we want to make sure our children don't miss out on their play time.It becomes quite overwhelming for kids and parents alike to figure out an all-inclusive approach that will fit in everything they want to do into the hours left after their school time.

Here are some tips on how we can together help our students strike the right balance between school and play activities:

  1. Stay organized :Keeping a time table can help students divide their time efficiently for all the activities round the clock. With study and play time set, your child can accordingly complete his/her tasks and enjoy their play time as well. You can engage your kids in making their own timetables. This will fully involve them in the activity and given them a sense of ownership and responsibility.
  2. Develop smart studying skills :Study time, today, is not about how many hours one clocked or how much content does one mug up. We need to inculcate smarter ways to study which will help our children truly enjoy the learning experience and not take up hours to mug up.Teach your child to focus on the task at hand. This will develop their attention span, and the faster they complete the task, the more play time they have at spare.
  3. Limit screen time :Television, mobiles and tablets are a part of daily lives and we cannot totally restrict our kids from the same. However, we need to make sure that our kids are getting enough time for outdoor play and activities. A limited screen time will help to ensure our children are not stuck to the couch the entire day.
  4. Healthy snacking :We are what we eat! Make sure your child is hydrated and has a healthy snack in his/her study breaks. A child requires immense energy to go around their daily schedules. With necessary nutrients and timely intake of food, it becomes easier for kids to perform any kind of activity in a productive manner.

It is important to maintain a balance between study and play, and make sure our kids get enough time for themselves as well. With these tips and more we can together help our children manage their time in a right manner and create an appropriate harmony.
